Supported Assisted living for people with disabilities

Your role
CYA KRIK is service provider of social services and coordinating assisted group leaving with 24 hours support for adults with disabilities. CYA KRIK is coordinating 4 houses, where in each house there are 5 adults with disabilities which are living together. The volunteers are supporting the independent living of the beneficiaries and spending time together in the houses. Some of the activities that the volunteers can do together are:
- go together for a walk
- cook together
- help them with some work in the garden
- listen music and watch TV together
- have a coffee and lunch together
- go together to the green market or other interesting place
- organize any interesting activities which the beneficiaries would love
In the house, there are caregivers which are providing 24 h support to the beneficiaries. Additionally, there is the team of the coordinator, who is a social worker and the physiotherapist which is providing the services daily. The volunteer will work together within the team.
Qualification & prerequisites
- Be able to communicate in English (listening, reading,speaking and writing)
- Believe in volunteering work changes people lives
- Self-motivated and ability to managed their own time
- Creativity
Volunteers from Vietnam and Philippines are eligible for this project.
Accomodation & Food
The volunteers will be accommodated in a shared house in Skopje. The house is located in Kisela Voda Municipality in South-eastern part of Skopje and it is 10 minutes by bus to the center of Skopje (15 minutes walking).
Close to the house there is a big market which is open during the day.
Down the street towards the center of the city there are few café bars.
From the center there is one buss that go in the direction of the house. Bus number is 24.
Visa & travel arrangements
Due to the current situation all of volunteers are required to be vaccinated or present a negative PCR-test done not more than 72 hours before entering. Information on Covid-19 restrictions can be found here.
The participant will need green pass to enter restaurants, shops and other premises. These can be obtained only by being fully vaccinated. If a volunteer has received 2 shots of other vaccines and 1 booster shot of EMA recognized vaccine, this is valid as fully vaccinated person. More information can be found here.
Visa requirements: in general, this takes 1 – 3 months for volunteering visa, however, due to shorter stay, a travel visa could be arranged. Participant will have to get visa prior to entering the country.

The Center for Youth Activism Krik is a non-governmental, non-profit organization founded by young people, led by young people and working for and with young people. The name is an inspiration that came from the vision of this organization, which should be the voice of young people who will be heard and will make changes and contributions to society. Krik seeks to encourage greater youth participation, youth activism, to encourage young people to be more involved in the policy-making process at local and national level. The target group that Creek works with is all young people 13-30 as well as young people with fewer opportunities, socially excluded groups and young people with visual and intellectual disabilities.
