ACDC (Action to the Community Development Center) is a local NGO with a legal status working to empower communities of people with disabilities and other marginalized groups (poor farmers, ethnic minority and women). It was formed by a group of experienced activists who have intensive experience in working in this area and share the same idea to establish a non-governmental organization to empower people with disabilities and other marginalized groups in Vietnam.
The center has legal status under the Southeast Asia Scientific Research Association in Vietnam. On December 27, 2011, the Hanoi Department of Science and Technology formally issued the permit for the organization in Decision 857/QD_TWH
ACDC consults with government agencies and local businesses on favourable policies for people with disabilities and another marginalized group. The organization also conducts research to gain a better understanding of issues/challenges facing people with disabilities community and other marginalized groups. Through advancing knowledge and creating a support network using newsletters, forums, web, and social media outlets the ACDC hopes to challenge society’s attitude toward people with disabilities and other marginalized groups.
The main vision of the centre is to contribute to a barrier-free society for people living with disabilities and other marginalized groups.
